New Media Unit fed up with slanderous lies by Abdullah Saidol
New Media Unit is fed up with slanderous lies spread by YB Abdullah Saidol about the unit. Yb Abdullah Saidol has been spreading lies for the past year about New Media Unit allegedly misusing funds. The only problem with YB abdullah Saidol’s pernicious lie is that New Media Unit did not receive funds for the past 2 and a half years. The leader that was ‘entrusted’ to help New Media Uni did not give a SINGLE CENT for the past 2 and a half years. So what funds are there to misuse?
New Media Unit hat been using its OWN funds for the past 2 and half years including the recently concluded parliamentary elections to berjuang for Barisa Nasional.
The question is why is YB Abdullah so maliciously and malignantly spreading lies about New Media Unit? What is his intention?
Below is the press release by New Media Unit.
PBB New Media Unit fumes over allegation that it misuses funds
KUCHING: PBB’s New Media Unit (NMU) is unhappy that it and its counterparts got treated as scapegoats when and where things did not go as planned for Barisan Nasional in the recent polls.
It said in an email yesterday that some high ranking government officers would blame them when things went wrong, whereas the unit was never given any campaign task since the 2011 state election.
“Allocations were given to somebody else. When meetings were called, somebody else were called. When going down to the ground, somebody else were invited. Information was given to somebody else.
When there were operations, somebody else were despatched. When conducting training, somebody else were hired and got paid, or used modules that were not ours. But when things did not go as planned, we were blamed,” said the email.
PBB Youth information chief Aziz Adenan, the state PBB NMU chief, confirmed the email was from the unit.
“The email is all true,” he told The Star, saying it was a reaction to blogger Tun Faisal Aziz’s recent post, which was quoted by an online news portal.
In his blog, Faisal said although the higher-ups engaged other parties to carry out Barisan’s cyber warfare, bloggers from BN NMU were blamed for the coalition’s less-than-impressive performance during the last general election.
The email further stated PBB NMU was the pioneer of the new media unit in Sarawak’s cyber space since 2010, a fact either unknown to many or often taken for granted.
It said PBB NMU was the first to conduct cyber training in the state in collaboration with Jasa at Swinburne University in 2010.
“PBB NMU together with NMU friends from SPDP and PRS also worked closely with Tun Faisal and Umno’s NMU during the 2011 state election.
“However after new faces got into the State Cabinet, and from the state election till the just-concluded general election, the state BN NMU did not receive a single cent despite having proven ourselves,” said the email.
Instead, the email claimed, certain high-ranking leaders in the State Cabinet spread malicious and slanderous remarks against the state BN NMU claiming misuse of funds.
“How can there be any fund to misuse when there was none given in the first place. Like what Tun Faisal said in his blog, ‘banyak cantik’,” it said.
